In One Nest

This mixed media charcoal sketch is a mood piece intended to capture the essence of Rossetti’s poem rather than depict a moment within the narrative. Bird imagery is rich in Goblin Market there is something about the freedom of birds flight and the tendency of humanity to capture, restrict… clip the spirits of independent creatures. Here a healthy bird nurtures a sketched sister in a moment of tragic beauty:

Cheek to cheek, breast to breast, Locked together in one nest…

back to the grindstone!

I'm just getting back to work in my studio after a month away in Indonesia working on a collaborative art project there to raise money for B.A.R.C. Bali (dog) Adoption and Rehabilitation Centre. Find details of this project in my new collection Cicing/Asu and find details about B.A.R.C. and the work they do at www.balidogrefuge.com. The country was beautiful, the dogs were fun and hard work and the climate was near paradise... so I'm happy to be back in London in the snow.

It's wonderful when all you have to do to cheer a friend up is remind them of the truth about themselves!
